the shifter is directly connected to the transmission by linkage or whatever, that is why the s2000 has one of the best(if not the best) shifters on the planet. live with it or buy a bmw if you want comfort/quietness.

I would take it to the dealer and ask them to repair it for you. Mine does not do this. Don't get me wrong, it shakes like crazy, but it does not rattle. I have seen a lot of other S2000's and no one has complained about a rattle at idle, but they all shake.

oops, sorry i meant a shake. yeah i guess thats what it is. ok, another question, im afraid to take my car to the dealership even though i have a 7year 100,000k warranty cuz i have an injen cai, toda header, and the jic exhaust. im afraid if theres anything wrong with the car, they will blame it on those mods. is this true also? if i even went to the dealer to repair the shifter, would they do it cuz got those mods? thanks. also razorv3, thanks for the info on the shifter. it does make alotta sense

Oh MAN! Why would you do THAT? The direct drive transmission is the SWEETEST PART of the S2K! I love that "stick quiver," let's you know the car is built for ONE PURPOSE!...
