Whew! I thought there was something wrong when I went on an Alpine tour up to about 9000ft.
When I got back down to Germany on the Autobahn VTEC still kicked in later than normal, so I guess there's a bit of time delay before it changes the engagement point.

Denver/Lakewood are both 5,000+ ft in elevation from sea level. It's definitely the altitude that's causing him to engage vtec higher in the rpm band.
The same thing happens when I go to our nearby mountain range and climb from 1,000 to 6,000+ feet in elevation.
