Why does my car stall first thing in the morning?
Ok, for the last two night it has gotten reasonably cold here in san antonio (aka around freezing), and for the last two days my car has stalled the first time I started it.
Hop in, turn key, hit red button...car revs up and then drops back down. Normally it drops to about 1k RPM and holds there, but the first time (and only the first time) I've started it for the last two days it doesn't stop at 1K, it just drops right down and stalls.
Hit button again, car starts fine.
Any ideas?

At 1 bar on your temp. gauge does your S2000 idle at 1,000rpm? Its very cold out here right now in PA & i always wait till i have 3bars on my temp. gauge before i leave my driveway. At 1 bar my car idles around 1.5rpm, at 2 bars its around 1.1rpm, & at 3 idle is .9rpm. Never has my car stalled when i've started it though.

Yeah, as far as I've notice my car is idling around 1k no matter what the temp bar says. I'll have to keep a closer eye on it though.
I do let it warm up for a minute before driving it after it starts; my problem is that it doesn't start on the first try.

This is fairly typical on this car with the onset of cooler temps. Unless there is something else wrong with your car, it should "learn" to compensate after several stall cycles. Mine does it every fall. Stalls out about 4-5 separate "cold" starts and then never does it again till the following year at the same time.

My 02 does this too, so far it has stalled twice this winter. I think it's a problem with the ECU program or a sensor. I'm just going to live with it unless someone here comes up with a permanent fix.
