It seems my car sounds perfectly normal when I drive it smoothly. But why is it after everytime I race it or drive it hard, the sound/tone of the car sounds abnormal? The rpms get really low in neutral and the sound/exhaust sounds more pulsating instead of a constant smooth sound? And I hear a louder ticking sound under the hood somewhere. But after a day or 2, the sound of the car goes back to normal and I hear no problems. Is this because my car/car's ecu got used to racing? My engine light even came on a few times after racing, then turned off after a day. I do have mods (CAI/H/E), but Im not tuned, yet. So could any of this have to do with not being tuned, thus effecting my fuel/lean, etc?

I don't think people can give you a straight answer without actually hearing the sound. I think when it comes to abnormal sounds, we need to hear it. Descriptions don't help much.

The changing of tones when you race is probably the VTEC crossing over and the ticking is probably your valves.

If you have a loud exhaust, maybe it's just your ears, not the car pulsating.

according to your description...i'm not worried at all about this sound change.

however, i'd sure as heck would want to know which CEL code you got, several times for that matter.

i thought the CEL light does NOT go away until you clear it???

I have no cell on, and yes I can tell when my loud exhaust changes tone.

Then go drive the car hard, wait for the cel to come on, and when it comes on pull over and check what code its throwing.

but this wierd sound thing happens quite often after racing, and still no cell. what if a cell never comes on after racing, but still sounds wierd?

sounding wierd isn't really the concern now, due to the lack of a good idea of this sound...

however, the multiple CEL's you mentioned you got...are of a higher concern.

record a sound clip and i guarantee there will be more responses with solution options.

My car does the same thing, I have Intake Test Pipe and Exhaust. My car will pulsate in the exhaust and sometimes starts smoking from the tailpipes. It lets out white, strong burning smell smoke. I think im burning oil bad. Is it just because my car is old or wat?

mine hasnt let out white smoke or strong odor yet, but just the wierd sound
