Why does my AP1 flywheel weigh 17 lbs?

Anyone listening in here have an AP2 with an AP1 flywheel? I've been thinking about doing this but always think that a lighter flywheel will make me lose some of my launch power... Heavier rotating mass = harder launch theory?
Biggest differences I noticed:
1. Car became peppier in the midrange
2. Car does not bog anymore on accelerations from a dead stop when the a/c is cranked on hot days.
3. I revved my car to 6k and watched the rpms drop then revved my friends' car to 6k and watched the revs drop several times, minutes apart. My friends' car is very similar to mine...Same year, similar mods(intake & exhaust), even the same color. But his still has to Ap2 flywheel in it. Mine dropped to the 1k idle when his was just passing the 2k rpms still dropping.
Hope that helps out

Ok, slight chance I might have sent the OP the wrong flywheel, a B series flywheel. If that is the case I accept the fact that I am a total jackass and give you all permission to point and laugh at me!
What I need one of you guys to do with an AP1 flywheel is measure the outside diameter of the friction disc area and the flywheel disc itself as pictured...
The one I have here at home has the flywheel teeth chamfered on engine side as apposed to on the driver side like the one I sent the OP. Which that in itself leads me to believe I sent the wrong piece since on the S2k the starter is on the engine side and on the B series motor it is on the tranny side.
So after this is confirmed I will ship the OP the right flywheel asap!

^How much does it weigh? Also, the clutch and flywheel pic you posted shows a flywheel with a ring gear that is flush with the engine side and not the friction side, which seems to coincide with the other AP1 flywheels here.
