Who'da thunk this thread could end up being so entertaining.

Maybe the intake pipe is vibrating against the front swaybar? I had to put some sticky-foam between the two.

Dave, I have a 4IGS CAI and I do not have the noise that you are describing. I do have a quiet little noise when I just give it a little gas from an idle. It does sound like a chirp, but it is very soft and only happens with a slight application of the gas pedal. I don't think that this is what you are describing, however. When I mash my gas pedal, I get a loud, low growling, sucking sound if I'm not in VTEC.

Agreed on all points here Bob. Its not that my CAI does not offer a "throaty" growl...I'm happy to say that it does. Its just that this lil chirp gets under my skin like a cockpit squeak that you can't quite put your finger on...ya know?

Thanks.

Well come on, tell us what your's sounds like?
Mine isn't nearly as colorful as what yours sounds like. It's just got a permanent "whistle" at low rpm, increasing in crescendo till about VTEC, where all Hell breaks loose (including the rear tires) to produce the wail of a Banshee! (Vortech)

I have a chirp too on my cheapie intake. I only notice it once in a while as its something I have gotten used to. I dont really care either way. the deep sound is great.

I have the comptech intake, spoon tb, and Js hood and it is very noticable, mine is louder than all of you! its just the air going through the intake, try closing your best friend under the hood and see what he comes up with while you are driving down the road

These replies of "similar chirp" are great! Basically, its at least confirming that I'm probably not starving my engine for air (which was a concern).

Thanks again everyone . Still going to double-check connections/fasteners & rub-points...but I really appreciate the feedback.
