Is your car stock? A poorly tuned / set up V-AFC or eManage could easily cause terrible mileage.

My S is my daily car, most of my trips is fairly short, about 4.7-4.8 miles each way to and from work on city streets. I usually get about 19-21 mpg, I never had more than 22 mpg or less than 18 mpg for any tank. The tire pressure is almost alway at 33-34 psi. I alway buy highest octane gas at Chevron or Shell stations. Yes, there are many oxygenate additives in California fuel and this may be the reason that we get worse gas mileage than other states.

the shutoff mechanism set to the same sensitivity).
That always bothered me, because different pumps could shut off at different back pressures. I usually always fillup and the same station/pump, so I think it's fairly accurate.

Hard street driving ~22mpg
Mostly highway ~28mpg
Trip from KY to CA ~35mpg (okay, so that wasn't the same station)

I've never seen below 20MPG, no matter how hard I drive the car. I average about 23 or so MPG. See my sig for the mileage log.

I guess you've never tracked your S. We usually see the lower end of 5mpg
