White liquid over the top of the engine
Guys
can anyone tell me what is wrong with my engine.
The little circular plastic thing in the middle of the red engine cover is covered in a solidified white liquid, it has also splashed on the pipes below.
thanks

R U 4 real?
Is it a powdery material? - likely coolant - the car either overheated or some moron removed the radiator cap to look at it - if you see a blind person with the same material all over his face, you will have your answer.

is the little circular thing you are talking about the PCV valve? if so, white stuff on it is not good at all. take off your radiator cap when the engine is cold. if you have an )) is it green? if you have an 01+ is it red? if it looks bubbily or muddy you have a problem. take off the valve cover? are the cams covered in dark brown oil (good) if not you have serious problems.

guys
thanks for the feedback
yes its white and powdery, and inside the radiator cap is green liquid, does this mean my engine is dead? its only done 4000 miles!
is it safe to assume that my engine will fail prematurely?

as long as its green with no muddy bubbles, your head gasket is probably all right. you should take off your valve cover to see what the oil on the cams looks like, though.
