whistling noise?

whistling noise?
I have a weird whistling noise coming from the (driver's) left side of the engine compartment. It varies in volume, but can be REALLY loud at times. It is consistent with engine RPM, and gets louder when the A/C is turned on, or at higher RPMs. Stock intake which I cant seem to find any leaks in.
Maybe someone can point me in the right direction.

no...Im a BMW tech. Just saying that so you know I can discern any other noise from a belt or pulley. Just can't seem to pinpoint where the sound is coming from...I thought maybe this is a common issue.
