Default whistle/whirring high pitch noise

hey guys, recently I've noticed a very soft whistle/whirring noise that gets higher in tone as my RPMs increase. Anyone have an idea where/what this might be coming form?

I wish I could use the search function but I get this error where it searches for "search forums..."

also does anyone know how much it typically costs to replace a transmission (labor only)?

thanks in advance!

hey..you are gonna have to be much more specific about the noise..

what speeds? which gear? hot weather? cold weather? is it when you are gassing it? does it make the noise when you are at stop and you just rev the car in neutral? coming from the rear? coming from the front? middle? does the shifter feel notchy?

this will help us somewhat pinpoint the noise.

i want to say it comes from near the tranny/gearbox and it's mostly in 1-3 gear during normal acceleration. it's a low whistle then as rpms increase it gets higher in pitch. when i rev it in neutral it doesn't make the noise. weather is around 70 degrees

thanks for the help

I have the same problem. Mostly during low gear acceleration. Not sure if its a problem or whatever...but it's annoying.
