Whining rear diff

Whining rear diff
Hi,
I am a bit new to the S2000, I recently bought a 04 AP1 with about 70.000km on the clock (about 40kmiles)
I have a slight buzzing (whining..) sound on the rear diff, best noticed at about 95km/h (60m/h)
Best noticed with the hood closed.
My friend has a 07 AP1 with about 40.000km, there I do not notice this.
Could this be an upcoming problem? ( I still have dealer warranty)
I think the car was driven hard, since I had to change the left drive axle (was replaced under warranty) It had a pronounced clicking sound.
Thanks for any ideas.
Stef

Thanks for the info,
the left axle was changed real fast after I got the car, so I do not know if the whine was there.
Now I just want to make sure that the diff is OK
I live in Belgium EU
the car was imported from from Germany (no speed limit on highway...) so I am sure the car was driven fast
also the windshield has about 1000.000 very very small stone chips, my guess dust hitting the shield when the car was at 130 - 140 mph...
My dealer gave me 1y waranty, so now is the time to check out the car...
The diff oil was changed, but I do not know what oil was used.
BTW what is this red line shock prof, is this special oil?

just do a few hard launches and put that thing out of its misery and get the dealer to replace it. if its loud enough to the point that you have to make post online, then it sounds like its been beaten and on its way out. my $0.02.
