Arrow Whine in the engine bay - not alternator or pullys

I have a whine sound coming from the engine bay on my 03 AP1, I thought it was bearing noise from the alternator so I swapped it out, but the noise is still there. My 02 AP1 never made this sound. I don't have a supercharger but I suppose its what it sounds like. Its annoying as hell...

The noise goes up and down with engine RPM so it has to be something on the belt and pulley system.. any ideas? could the A/C comp. whine?

I had a similar problem when I first got mine. Mine turned out to be a ground problem with the audio equipment. There was a whine that increased with my revs but only when the stereo was on. The dealer said they would take care of it for me so I'm not 100% what they did. Try powering off your stereo and see if the sound is still there; if it is you got something else going on.

Sounds like normal induction noise, take off the airbox lid and see if it gets worse.

It is not... The induction sound is completely different and easy to discern from this sound.

The Idler and Tension Pulleys could be your issue. I replaced both pulleys and cured my whining issue.
Recommend more research in this forum, you will find that others had replaced their pulleys also (< $100.).

Id get some lithium greese in the spray can and spray one pully at a time.. when you hit the one thats grinding the noise will stop then you will know what one to replace if the problem starts again

Run it for a short period without the accessory belt. From a cold start you could drive it a very short distance only. Enough for a quick diagnostic listen. This will tell you if its something that is turned by the accessory belt.
