While reversing I ran into a problem
Alright you guys I have another problem with MY07 S2000 with about 3300 miles. This morning as I turned on the engine and waited about a minute for the car to warm up before heading to school, I shifted to reverse and proceeding to reverse out of my garage. Than all of a sudden I hear like a cracking, breaking noise from the back like as if I was running over hard plastic. At first I thought I ran over something, but I got out of the car and saw nothing. So maybe I messed up the differential or something somehow? Do you guys know is this normal or what?

It was your rotors getting temporarily "welded" to the pads.. rust takes over pretty fast at night..especially if it rained or if you washed your car..
btw your diff is fine and there is nothing wrong with your car.

as a side note, modern cars do not need to "warm up". just start it and go. idling a cold engine actually causes wear as the oil isn't getting moved around as much at low engine speeds.

No where in the owners manual is there any mention of 'warming the car up'. Just get in and drive. I limit my RPMs to below 5k until up to temp. but it only takes a mile or so to get to 5 bars in the summer, maybe a mile more in the winter (at least in West Texas )
