Where's my oil going?
#11
Here's what I did:
Drove my car brutally hard for 8500 miles and never checked the oil.
One night in the middle of a hard corner I lost about a hundred horsepower and the engine started sounding like a diesel.
About then is when I decided that maybe I should check the oil.
It was pitch black and there was probably about a quart left in the engine.
I limped the car to Honda and they informed me that I had blown almost every seal on the crank and that I needed a new engine.
It took a week, but the warranty company finally decided to pay for it saving me around $8200 and scoring me a brand new block and head from the factory.
It worked for me and it could work for you too!

Also, early model AP1's were notorious for using oil, especially if the driver spent a lot of time in VTEC. There were a few folks in the beginning that actually fried their engines because they didn't keep an eye on it like they should have.
Good luck,

Well, I'm just happy to hear that this is COMMON in the S2000s and not a problem I have!
Thanks folks. Will keep much closer tabs on it from now on.

has anyone tried using 10-40? my friend used to burn tons of oil in his integra when he was using 10-30. he later switched to 10-40 and the oil consumption was eliminated.
mobil 1 doesnt make a synthetic 10-40 but on their website they recommend their diesel/truck synthetic http://www.mobil1.com/usa-english/motoroil...bleResults.aspx
what do you guys think?
