When should I do my first oil change?
Ok here's the story. I am going to take my S to the track on April 22. I currently have 5000km on my car, which is about 3 months old and the maintenence minder thing is showing that i have 50% life on my original oil from the factory. I want to switch to synthetic oil after the first oil change. Now I've heard that you should keep the original factory oil in the car for as long as the computer deems nessessary because it has special detergents in the oil that are important for the break in period. I'm thinking my oil life will probably drop to 30-40% and i should have about 6500km on the car by next month when i go to the track.
So my question is: should i change to synthetic before i go to the track or do you think it would be safe to track the car with the original oil?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Change it after your track day when your oil life is exhausted - get the actual life out of your oil, and get the most use from the factory fill. Changing your oil more frequently than is necessary is not good in the long term - just make sure you're always between the high and low marks.

Please don't make be hunt for the Honda release, it's somewhere in the FAQ.

Do not switch until 10,000 miles. I also agree that you should change it AFTER the track day.

Regardless of when you first change your oil, it is widely accepted on this board that Honda has recommended to not switch to synthetic until at least 10k miles.

In the break in section of the manual, they write detailed information on the do's and don'ts, like don't do the first oil change until it is indicated by the maintenance schedule, so why didn't they note that you shouldn't use synthetic until after 10K? They didn't.
