When should i do my first oil change?
#11
I have always heard that break-in oil is a myth. I have heard this from multiple mechanics. MY 06 GTO came with synthetic from the factory and so did my 04 Evo VIII. So I don't see where it would hurt to change right away. To each his own.
I change my oil at 500 miles usually in my new cars to get all the metal shavings out. Then I go by the usual changing cycle.

It's generally accepted on this site (per Honda's recommendation) to wait to change to synthetic until at least 10k miles.
It's also generally accepted to wait to change the factory fill oil according to the owner's manual (mine read 3750 to 7500 miles or 6 months to 1 year, which ever comes first, depending on conditions - 2005).
Check the Oil Journals for more info on fluids.
