Default When grabbing gears car shakes

So I noticed this problem when I bought it but now i got used to it and it hardly shakes when I drive so basically I let my friend drive my car and he says I gotta get that checked out.

Stage 3 clutch and I believe a lightweight flywheel.
So when you're in first gear or reverse at a stop. As soon as you start going it shakes a bit before it moves. Like a deep vibration under the car.

So Clutch in and you're at a stop. You shift into 1st gear and let go of clutch slowly while pressing gas. As soon as it starts to move it shakes a little until you get that RPM up.

Any one know what the issue might be?I heard it might be the flywheel not being new, different wear patterns. Im not sure if he did put a new flywheel or not. No idea.

Thanks.

Had a very similar problem with my pontiac firebird when i put a used flywheel on except the vibration was much worse. Chances are there are heat spots/high spots/low spots on the flywheel from wear or a bad grind from the manufacturer.

To fix this you can take the flywheel off and take it to a specialty grinding shop with something called a bordelese grinder or call around to your local tranny shops and ask if they have a flywheel grinder. they are a rotating table with a large diameter grinding disc.

good luck!

If you do decide to change your clutch be mindful of the heatspots as i mentioned before! wouldnt want you to put in a new clutch with a worn flywheel and have the same vibration =/

So best bet just get a new clutch lol? and flywheel? This stage 3 is annoying. I heard stage 2 is near oem strength so might think of putting that in but doesnt it cost like $500 to put it in?

Well..labor for a clutch job shouldn't really depend on the stage of the clutch. As far as I know...labor for throwout bearing, clutch, flywheel......all equal the same.

--edit--

ahh..i get what you mean now. haha $500 quote for a clutch job is a super good deal. I think the norm is around $700. I got it done for $600 because I knew the owner.

It would be foolish for anyone to tell you to change your clutch without diagnosing the car in person. BUT if the clutch was indeed bad, i would replace the clutch disk, resurface the flywheel if possible, replace the pressure plate, replace the pilot bearing and the throwout bearing.
