Default Wheel stud installation questions... (front)

Hello All,

I am in the process of installing ARP extended wheel studs in the 01 S2K. I have taken the front hub assemblies off of the car, but I need to have the bearings pulled to install the studs (because of the clearance issue with the studs and the rest of the assembly).

I do not feel comfortable renting a bearing puller and doing this myself, so I am probably going to take the parts to honda and have them pull the bearings and install the wheel studs.

Does anybody here (maybe a honda service employee) have any idea what this might cost? Also I am not sure if I will need to replace the wheel bearings during this procedure.

Also if anyone has done this before and thinks I am going about it backwards or something, or has some helpful info on the procedure, let me know.

Thanks!

Heather

It would cost about $200 to run it through my shop.

Thanks Slows2k!

I live in BFE (Colorado), so I am looking at $300 in labor at honda plus seventy six each for the wheel bearings.

Also, Is it ok to run extended studs (ARP) with the stock wheels and no spacers? I am ordering spacers soon (5-8mm) but am going to drive the car until I get them in. I assume everything will be ok, aside from the studs looking funny. I have open ended lugs as well.

any comments??

You have to use open ended lug nuts with OE wheels and ARP studs.

as i figured, honda would quote the bearings. this is the right thing to do, but not necessary. if your a pro, you simply need to walk the hub out of the bearing a little, and then the studs can be airhammered out and pulled back in. its a simple deal, ive done several now. there will be no bearing damage at all. unless your a hack. LOL later dave

if you replace the bearings it should cost about 50 bucks with a Honda discount. I took my whole knuckle to a local reputable shop and they pressed in the bearings for $30 each. honda will charge a little more. Probably about 50 or so more than a local shop would do.
