Default Wheel bearing and/or CV joint noise

Suppose you have a "bad" rear wheel bearing. With the car on jack stands, if you rotate the wheel by hand will the bearing still make noise? Let me put it this way.
With the car on stands, can you hear a bad wheel bearing?

Same question again, this time concerning CV joints?

Thanks, Cal

Probably would not be able to hear the CVs either...that is more of a vibration when accelerating (and especially when cornering under acceleration...like an on ramp).
