I'd really want to know how bunged up the hub is. New bearings on a bad hub is sort of like polishing a turd.

Be interesting to see what Honda says.

Any update? I know this is an old thread but I think I have the same problem. It would be great to know if a new hub fixed this.

Pretty much anything you need to know about noise coming from the rear corners of the car is contained within the thread above. Unfortunately, it is 372 pages long. What are the specific symptoms you are experiencing?

Junk hub pic. Once the axle nut issue is unattended to for a long period, the shifting inner races will destroy the hub. If you install a new bearing on a bad hub, the inner races will never hold and it will continue to ruin bearings.

The thing is I bought the car used so I don't know if the previous owner drove with bad bearings. The clicking I get is NOT accompanied with bad wheel bearing noises. The car did have an impact at the rear where the intermittent click is coming from. The axle was replaced and all linkages were inspected OK. I'm thinking maybe the splines on the wheel hub are damaged and re torquing the axle nut is not fixing this.

So Billman, is it possible the hub splines are damaged but my bearing is still good (for now)?

Sorry to bump this back from the dead. I'm taking my car in tonight to have my driver's side wheel bearing replaced. Could someone please enlighten me on what exactly in this picture indicates that this hub is bad? I'm not familiar with what it should normally look like. Just so I can have a clue what I'm talking about if I get any flack about getting them to replace the hub too. Thanks.
