Default whats wrong? test pipe? running rich? tip 2 close?

now my question is:

what causes the black crap/soot/carbon that builds on upon the back bumper?

we all know it's when the engine exhales... so, any ideas?

no cat? meaning you're running a test pipe/straight through? or you're running rich? or even just because you're muffler exit is a little too close to your bumper?

anybody with an s2000 run a straight pipe experience this?

i searched but nothing specific came about.

It's soot from the exhaust system, and very normal. It's worse with a test pipe.

Start cleaning

Running rich, testpipe, and exhaust tips not sticking out far enough can all cause the black soot to build up on the bumper. Start cleaning

Most of that shit(unburned gasses etc...)would normally be burned in the cat;but,as the cat is not there anymore, you collect it on your bumper.
Start cleaning.!!!

what if my car was bone stock with just a test pipe...? stock exhaust, header, and no sort of fuel management....

will that lower my chances of the blackness stuff on my bumper? i'm thinking of riding around like that but somebody told me the black stuff is usually and mainly due to the non-use of a cat.

all that crap that would normally be burned or stick in the cat is now free to exit the exhaust and deposit on your bumper and your muffler pipes. get a rag and start to clean
