On the TCT you want to retract that metal post back in, hold it with a cotter pin, install, and remove cotter pin through maintenance hole on front of engine. Not sure how to do that, but I think Billman or someone explain in a TCT thread with the term "retract." Search a little, you should find it. Or you could go spend a few bucks and buy a new one. I think I paid $25 or so for mine.

You have to take the two bolt cap off the TCT, remove the oil jet with a flat screwdriver, and retract the piston with the 5mmX.80 bolt.

I understand now how to remove and install the tct.... last question, is there a way to check the tct while its removed. I have visually inspected it and it looks new. Although i have from time to time had the same noise that has been reported. im beginning to wonder if its the oil im using that may be contributing. I run mobil 1 full synth. 10-30.
