or the even lower cost option of tightening the slack on the throttle cable, this actually removed 90% of any bogging i was experiencing from a stop.
I don't understand how tightening the throttle cable prevents bogging.

The placebo effect is a powerful mod......... for both the 02 ecu swap and tightening the cable.

first of all tru dat

but, i think tightening the throttle cable might have a slight effect.

Lets says you are used to a certain timing of clutch release throttle in, which you use in a normal situation. Then if your throttle cable was loosened wouldnt that cause you to bog? ie not enough fuel to make correct amount of power for desired launch.

if anything tightening the cable should give you quicker throttle response right? it should be equivalent to play in the the throttle pedal.

The cable thingy makes sense. I'm going to try it.

Where can I get the cheapest snorkel? They are all the same thing anyways.

hey hey hey, hold on a minute; i dont know what im talking about.

But tightening the slack in the cable shouldnt hurt in anyway as long as you dont tighten beyond reccomded spec (4-6mm of play).

I seem to have a problem where stuff i say seems to make sense so people believe it. It doesnt mean that its true. I think this arises from me bieng an engineer (electrical not mechanical) in training, so i do know some things but because of that its often easier for me to justify wrong things with weak hypothesies. Remember ignorance is bliss, but a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Slows2k is a mod and prolly knows more than i do.

I've driven Lots of S2000's, ( I work on them quite regularly) the biggest difference is between a 2.2L car and a 2.0L car. I call BS if you can pick out the 5hp difference between a 00-01 and a 02-03. Every car is a bit different, no 2 make exactly the same power.

If it gives you peace of mind to tighten the throttle cable go ahead. Just don't tighten the cable so much that it's holding the throttle plate open.

Spending the $$$ on a 02-03 ECU would be the last mod I'd ever do to a 00-01 car. There are more important thing such as gas, tires, and track events.

I am not sure of that. There is precious little space between the hood and the radiator so most snorkels have a pinch that actually can impede airflow, and probably provide a good hot spot to warm air. I would shop a bit rather than just assume the are all the same.

I run a Mugen CAI that has a broader, deeper path but requires the hood cut to clear, and still I left insulation under it at the radiator.
