Try everything mentioned but if it still does it, you probably have bad synchro's and/or worn or bent shift fork for that gear. (Which was what was wrong with mine) I rebuilt my own transmission and have not had the problem return since (about 50,000 miles ago) My shift fork was worn so out of spec that it would allow the shifter to pop out of gear when in third gear at times. hmmm.. i was having issues too, i tried adjusting my master cylinder play and worked for a little then i took it out and cleaned it and that is fixing the problem temporarily until i get my new one in alog with a slave cylinder, id check from top to bottom, leaking or black tar look around the outer portion of the mc plunger, may be bad and no matter how much you adjust it, the pressure in it may be lost.

Mine does the same thing from time to time. I just put in a new clutch, master and slave, still happens. The only time it does not occurs is after the trans oil warms up. I went for a long drive the other day, and it shifted like butter.

Greasing the shifter will do squat.

Rev higher. At least 5500 and it will go away.

MANY S2000s do it.

Mine does it too. It feels almost like you are knicking something inside the transmission, but definitely a different feel from a gear grind. Does it more until the car is really warm.
