What's with my 2-3 shift? (solution)
So for a while now, I've felt like whenever I complete my 2-3 shift, I'm hitting something as it goes into gear. It does this sometimes when I shift as slowly as possible, even when I center the shifter before pushing up into the gear, and more so when I try to shift quickly. I tried replacing the clutch fluid and that didn't help. The only thing that seems to make it go away is if I double clutch before shifting, which is annoying. My clutch rod was horribly under spec, with lots of play in it, so I tightened it up as much as possible and then eased it back to where there's no play but not over tightened. It helped my 1-2 shift and made the clutch feel a lot better when engaging, but did not help the 2-3 clunk. Any ideas what this could be or what could help it? This is on an '02 with about 49k miles, btw.

Yeah, I changed all of the fluids a while back, didn't help much with this problem. I'm stumped.

I think its normal i have it when shifting from second to third gear, i read somewhere at shifting at 4-5 rpm helps, and it dose at least for me, i don't care so much about it though.

I was having the same problem and changed the transmission fluid to the Amsoil that a bunch of people recommended. For the first several days, it felt the same. Then, I slowly realized that the problem went away. Was told it can take a while for old fluid to drain out. Before you start rebuilding anything, try this. Worked for me.
