what would happen if i were to take the heat
would i need to cover the battery with something? or it doesn't matter? anybody drive their s2k without the heat shield?

At one point I had to take it out to weld it (it was cracked).
I asked the same question.
Reply was that some aftermarket exhausts dont even have a heatshield to begin with and driving without would most likely raise the UTH temperature.
If it isnt broken I would leave it there.
It does have a purpose.
IMO it keeps the heat in the exhaust, hot gasses flow faster then cold.
And it keeps the heat out of your engine compartment.
Driving without it for a couple of days isnt a problem I think.

the reason i ask is because the j's heatshield is a piece of crap and it rattles like a damn snake. nothing lines up the way it should and its becomming a pain in the ass to adjust it.

The OEM heatshield is there for a reason: to reduce heat transfer from exhaust to battery and to air conditioning lines. You should try to get the J's heatshield to fit properly.

the reason they have heat shield was for master brake cylinder and clutch lines for JDM RHD. since we have master brake cylinder and clutch on other side... we won't be getting heat sink. i would stll leave the heat shield for AC line.
