Default What is the real oil capacity?

Hey guys, I just had my oil changed this morning with a Mobil 1 M104 filter, and was curious what the real oil capacity was. The manual and alldata shows that oil capacity is 5.2 quarts including the filter, but it took me 5.75 quarts to top it off. I used the M104 filter which is the oem size filter so it shouldn't have required more oil. Should I just dump in 5.2 quarts of oil, or should I have done what I did and topped it off?

You are probably a bit high.. it seems to take a bit more than 5.2 to put it over the top X ; most of us use 5.5 which is to the H.

Like cdelena's car, mine takes 5.5 qts to fill to the top H on the dipstick when I do an oil and oil filter change. Make sure that your car is level and that you give enough time (several minutes) for most of the oil to drain into the crankcase. Most garage floors have a slight pitch to them and I need to make a small adjustment to my car to get it exactly level. It makes a difference of 1/8 qt in my garage.
