Well according to Honda and its engineers you should only use oem spark plugs the German and other spark plugs where not designed for use in our cars and Honda has spent millions of dollars on research and design in building these cars and the heat range of oem spark plugs are designed specifically for our cars unless some one can show a hp gain on the dyno I think you should stick with oem on NA engines.

When it comes to a colder spark plug, it is more of a "cooling mod" which will only show benefits on the street. Would you expect a high performance radiator to show a gain on a dyno?

Hmm would like to see what benefits of using a colder spark plug would bring on a NA engine since the Oem plugs are designed for the heat range of our engines was only using the dyno as an example if someone could show the benefit of colder plugs on paper then it might be worth the expense of those plugs. It gets up to 105deg where I live and have not had any problems with hard driving at that temp or overheating with the oem plugs.Not trying to start a flame war just my opinion.

There is a lot to choosing a spark plug's heat range for a production car. The "average" usage, and the "average" climate have to be considered to pick the "best" heat range. For people that drive more agressively than the "average" driver, and live in a climate that is warmer than "average", a colder plug is a better choice. I consider my IK24s my biggest bang for the buck mod yet.

Gernby, under the conditions that you operate your car, do you find the IK24's are "long lived". I was using my stock plugs (gapped lower) for S/Cd for a year and they seemed to work well and was not showing signs of needing replacement. I've gone to the colder copper plugs as a trial.
