Default What are the normal compression numbers on the s2k

I just bought an 01 s2k. I had a compression test done on it and the lowest number was 250. The highest was 262. The other two cylinders were somewhere inbetween. Are these normal numbers on a compression test? Seems kind of high to me, but I don't really know these cars.

you're just fine!

You need to worry if any of them are really far apart. If it helps, I think 250 is regarded as pretty good.

Perfect. Almost more important than what number you get in the end is the fact that they are within 10% of one another.

You must be making some great power if your compression is really that high (not just the particular guage you used being off). Agreed, more important is that all your cylinders look pretty uniform.

I've found that ambient temperature affects my readings, but on a relatively cool day (i.e., ~60F), I usually get 245-255 with my Craftsman compression tester, so your numbers sound pretty good.

As someone has already mentioned, since some gauges read differently (high/low), the fact that your numbers are all within 5-10% of each other is one of the most important factors.

Would you mind briefly describing the steps you take to do a compression test on your S2000?

I would like to re-check mine but don't want to mess anything up in the process. I couldn't find a section in the service manual that describes ithe process, and I'm worried about disconnecting fuel properly, etc. Thanks in advance.
