Actually we are trying to answer the question, which is what mechanical components might fail if you change the ECU to raise the cutoff. And I was also playing with the next obvious question, if there is room, how much.

The problem is that until someone on the Honda engine design teams posts, we are working with a puzzle of both mechanical and psychological issues, and have only information on the f20c as a starting point.

And this is why I chose to use the vertical component of crank motion as an acceptable first order approximation.

I don't think the accel is supposed to be symmetrical due to the changeing angle of the connecting rod. The acceleration of the crank is symmetrical, however the acceleration of the pistion (which is what I was going after with the equation) is the acceleration of the crank, plus the acceleration of the pistion relative to the point on the crank where the con rod is attached. (Relitive to the crank attachment point, the pistion sweeps out an arc with a radius = to length of the con rod)

what have i started. although i understand your point guys it will be hard to decide what components since some have been changed, the crank is changed and comp ratio changed a upwards a bit which i think means pistons are diff too, but im no where as close as smart as you guys so dont take my word for it.
