some people have been using Almasol LE607 (and the replacement, LE1605) and have reported good results. keep in mind, however, that this fluid is not API GL5/6 certified which the service manual states to use, in which case if the differential needs repair under warranty and you disclose to them or find out that the diff fluid wasn't API GL5/6 certified, the warranty will be void.
I'm not sure how accurate this statement is. Is there a certification process for API GL5? I'm not aware of any. There are performance tests that gear oils are required to meet for GL5 designation:

"API Category GL-5 designates the type of service characteristic of gears, particularly hypoids in automotive axles under high-speed and/or low-speed, high-torque conditions. Lubricants qualified under U.S. Military specification MIL-L-2105D (formerly MIL-L-2015C), MIL-PRF-2105E and SAE J2360 satisfy the requirements of the API GL-5 service designation. "

LE states for 1605:

"MEETS THE PERFORMANCE OF:
AGMA 9005 E02 US Steel 224 David Brown Type E
API GL-5 DIN 51517 Part 3 Bucyrus International, Inc.
USDA H2 AGMA 250.04
MIL-L-2105E ISO 12925 Type CKD"

The performance test results of 1605 far exceed any that I've seen from any other oil companies' GL5 gear oils (but so did 607). Why do you think Honda would deny a warranty claim if you use it?

For those that want to learn some more about gear oils, here is a good link from one of the few oil additive suppliers in the industry that may help you understand what is going on in the loosely controlled world of gear oils:

Here is another link that illustrates how poorly many name brand GL5's fail even the most basic of gear oil tests:

i dont think anyone on this site would disagree that puddymod knows his shit when it comes to differentials. that beign said, here is what he reccomended to me when i asked him

[QUOTE]
70% Lucas 80/90 gear oil and 30% Lucas oil stabilizer with anti shock, use this oil in the rear.
The stabilizer will keep the oil stabile at 90W and the anti shock helps keep the oil from braking down to fast.
