From everything I've read I think that for the transmission you should go with Honda MTF (they added a additive a couple of years ago to make the shifting smoother)
As for the diff, just be sure to respect the specs. Any brand is good.

what is the weight of the diff fluid i checked autozone they didnt have diff fluild and o'reilys couldnt give me a straight answer the employees were disputing the weight and they only had royal purple and lucas and a couple off brands

i use GENUINE HONDA MTF for the tranny. i bought my MY03 at 63k miles and changed it this weekend @67k. the tranny fluid that came out looked clean but after changing the fluid, the transmission really did change gears smoothly. got rid of the notch between 1-2 and 2-3 during cold days. this may also be due to the reformulated mtf that honda sells now.
i changed my diff fluid with MOBIL1 75W-90. the differential drain bolt magnet showed some metallic sediments that look like a wet powdery substance, i was fortunate not to find any real shavings or any larger pieces. it seems that the previous fluid being used was royal purple (the diff fluid that came out seemed purple... does that make sense?)
some people have been using Almasol LE607 (and the replacement, LE1605) and have reported good results. keep in mind, however, that this fluid is not API GL5/6 certified which the service manual states to use, in which case if the differential needs repair under warranty and you disclose to them or find out that the diff fluid wasn't API GL5/6 certified, the warranty will be void.

I'm using royal purple 75w90, anyone have any opinions or concerns about this type of diff fluid.
wanted to us mobil 1 75w90 but couldn't find it at any of the auto parts stores around my area, figured everyone was getting ready for wake the dragon...lol.
