Default What the heck is this from?

So I'm taking off all 4 calipers to do a winter rebuild project & as I'm finishing up the removal, I notice this small spring laying on the garage floor near the right rear of my S. Anybody know what it could be from?? I'm really hoping it was on the floor before I got started. I couldn't locate the spring in the brake part diagram - but the image quality is kind of poor.

It looks brand new. Unless you've cleaned it?

Probably not from the car.

Maybe a battery spring from a flashlight or something?

It looks like the spring on the shift lever when it is removed for lubrication and/or replacement of the shift cup at the end.

It does *kinda*. But its way too small to be that.

proportionally also ....its not that spring. Its too short and the coils are too closely wound.

Haven't cleaned it. But I like the answer.

I just noticed the ruler and it is smaller than the shift spring but it looks like it. I just cleaned mine 2 days ago so it is fresh in my mind.

I have rebuild my brake Calipers front and rear last year and i can assure you that this spring is 100% NOT from the brakes.

No sir...nothing like it. Here's a bad photo.

Coil spacing on the shifter spring is not consistent, and length vs width proportions are different. I did my shifter rebuild a couple years ago...but....I remember weird details very well.

Definitely not shifter. Regarding common springs in a car it is closest in size to the shoe retaining springs in a drum brake (which would have to have come from something other than the s2000). But seems a tad small in gauge to be that and possibly a bit short, and if it was, it fell out of rebuild kit because it is way too clean.
