What happens when you loose a valve @ 8000 RPM

Endyn, eh? TOO strikes again. I wondered what Larry was up to these days. Talk about the Master of Hype. (My screen name is a satire on "The Old One".)
I'd listen to Billman's advice before I'd act on any of Endyn's suggestions.
If you ever run into Oscar Jackson (Sr.), ask him about Larry Widmer.

Back to your retainers....I use AP2 retainers and keepers on the intake side only. They will withstand an over-rev and not crack.

Two questions:
How many miles were on it when this happened?
Does anyone have pis of what a keeper looks like when it's creeping up the stem so we know what to look out for?

How come only the intake side? Exhaust side does fine without ap2 retainers and keepers? I'm at 70k and want to do a valve adjustment and the more im thinking about it the more i want to change out the retainers and keepers to ap2 ones as well. Whats a good place to get these? Thx ahead
The intake valves are larger and heavier, so they put more stress on their retainers. Sometimes enough stress to crack the retainers, eventually dropping a valve. OTOH the exhaust valves are smaller, therefore lighter, so they don't put as much stress on their retainers. No history of exhaust retainer failure means they don't need upgrading.
OEM AP2 retainers are available at your local Honda dealer or any Honda dealer online. Majestic Honda has a very nice website and is one of the largest (and best priced) online sources.

They said do this, and it will make the head indestructible
Indestructible eh?
These phrases get banded around soooo much - 'Bullet Proof', 'Indestructible', '100% reliable'. It's all rubbish.
Unfortunately, revs kills engines.
This is a physical fact.
You can do what you want but eventually it will fail.
The standard S2000 engine is plenty good enough for me.
Like the car in general, respect it, care for it, and avoid any 'dumbass' and it will last you >100k miles.
100k miles from an engine with those stresses is simply excellent!
