Just creates a better seal since it's more malleable than the drain plug. It would only make sense that an older one has formed different odd shapes and would not fit as good after each oil change.

I reuse mine if the dealer doesn't give me one. I've never seen it leak. The bolt isn't going to back out, and the worst that can happen is a very slow leak. Just check it the first couple a days and be done with it.

it's best to use an oem Honda oil filter and for the price they charge for them they better give you the washer attached to the filter.

As for other plugs like the diff and tranny they are more likely to leak than the engine oil plug, as you can't readily see those fluids leak they can pose a problem. They previous owner of my car obviously didn't change the washer on the diff fill plug for many years and the washer eventually got so thin that it has welded itself to the fill plug and can't be removed. I have to use a new washer upon the old one that is welded to the plug.

I have a drain valve from js2k but before then I reused the washer pretty much every time over 3 years with no leaking what so ever. imo it really doesn't matter. If they give you a new one than no reason not to use it though.
All those saying your gonna spray oil out and blow your motor are full of sh*t.

They only cost about a quarter. Just replace it. I've only had one leak (when I had an old Accord that came w/ free oil changes for life), and I'm assuming the dealer didn't make it standard practice to replace the washer. When I saw the oil drip under the car, they tried to tell me I needed to replace the oil pan gasket (for $200+ or something like that). I got down there, replaced the crush washer and stopped the leak. And never went back to that dealership... even for free oil changes.

these is more oil, its all forming a trail. well enjoy. this might not happen to you but i surely did happen to me. but since then i bought a oil drain valve.

FWIW: no, i did blow my motor, right when i heard clicking noises (im guessing from the tct losing oil pressure) and the oil light flashed, i shut off the car and rolled to a neighborhood.

Man, i've reused crush washers many times. Never any issues. Sounds like the people whose drain bolts have come loose are tightening the drain bolt with less torque than their Honda has
