The peak HP is not at 9k....but rest assured, it will pull hard all the way to 9. Trust me ![smile.gif](https://www.s2ki.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
An 00 or 01 ECU is recommended, and if you get a key with it, you won't need to have reprogramming done by Honda.
Who ever sells the ECU should supply a key (the chip inside is what's needed), and grind off the key cut for his security.

Doesn't the MY00-01 ECU also run a tad richer (perhaps giving a little more protection against leaning out)?

This was actually discussed in a recent thread, but the thread was rendered useless because there were too many responses and it became too much to ask anyone to read (or wade) through.

The increased crank throw on the AP2s used to increase the displacement to 2.2 has increased the piston speeds at the higher revs.
9,000 RPM would cause more strain on the AP2 engine parts than it does on the AP1 engines. THe AP2 engines would not last long at those rpms.
