I've noticed on startup that the car seems to be running a little on the rich side. You can smell the unburnt gas, and there is also a slight amount of smoke after cold starting. This is also coupled with a slight hesitation when reving the engine (not hard reving, just bumping the throttle). Wanthing to know if this is something that could be fixed by resettng the ECU, or is there something the Honda place can do to lean the fuel up some. Or is this normal? I've also considered changing plugs.

Thanks

S2000's generally run rich. That's just the way they are. Also, blipping the throttle just after a cold start, while the engine is trying to stabilize its own idle is not indicative of any particular issue.

Thanks. I've only owned 2 Accords, and this is the first car that I've owned that is this special. Just wanted to make sure this was normal.

If you're still interested in leaning out the mixture, you might want to look into a VAFC, eManage, or other fuel tuning device.

They made it rich to protect the engine. I think the stock ratio is in the range of 11.5 to 1 but I have leaned mine out to 13.4 to 1 with the VAFC

Thanks, I'm gonna check inot the VAFC. I would be neat to change the ratios to fit coditions.

If you want an Idea of really how rich it runs, put a straight pipe on. When I shift, a puff of gas comes out the back.
