So I am getting the head machined. I was thinking of getting valve guides done.. already have AP2 retainers. Anything else I need to consider?

If its already in the shop might as well have a pro machinist check everything out. I did my head for the sake of peace of mind and they found 7 exhaust valves bent resulting in excessive guide wear. It was running with no problems before too.

My head is being pulled off and going to the machine shop next week, everything in the head is being replaced, new guides, seals, dual springs, titanium retainers, flat valves and keepers. Im also having the head decked .008 to bump up the compression a tiny bit more. while the heads off take a look at the bottom end too.

How high are you planning to rev the engine?

DO NOT deck/machine the head.

Only if it needs it, and if you haven't over heated it won't need it.
