Check this site out:

This is the update to the old review that I started.

I agree with this statement as far as normal road use and 3000 mile oil changes go. Maybe a little longer. But not for racing, extended intervals, or hard street driving... at least not all filters.

All that said, the Purolator, Mobil 1, Hastings (Amsoil) and Motorcraft are decent.

I use the M1-105 on my S2000 and truck (Isuzu, same thread/boss size) and an M1-105 on my Civic and Protege (same thread/boss size). They are pricey but I feel better using them. If I could find something close in quality and performance for less money and easy to get I would buy it. I would use the PureOne but the nearest place to get one is 15-20 mins away (Autozone is about 2 minutes away).

STP, Lee, Mobil 1, K&N, Bosch, Wal-Mart SuperTech, etc. are all made by Champion Labs. From what I have examined and read, the only real significant differences are the filter media and possibly the gasket color. The basic structure appears to be identical. Specifically, what makes the Wal-Mart SuperTech and the STP filters utter pieces of poop?

Because Honda is not in the business of making oil filters. I have no faith in the OEM filter when its the same filter that they've used in every I-4 motor for the last 10+ years. Now that there is a specific filter for our car, leads me to believe that they determined that the old one wasn't cutting it.

i highly recommend the PCX filter(made by toyo roki, made in japan). this filter was specifically made for the s2000 and offers an increased flow rate compared to the other filters.

if you don't have access to the PCX filter, i highly recommend the k&n filter hp-1004. its pricey(~$10), but performs great. has one of the highest flow rates and filters efficiently. www.ntpog.org highly recommends this filter too.

i also heard good things about mobil 1 filters but i dont have personal experience with them.

Just get the Hamp filters from one of the site sponsors. So far I've never heard one bad thing about them (I also use them on my car) and because they are smaller in size they raise the pressure of the oiling spray system and therefore they help spray better.
