Do not change your oil every 3k if you're using mobil 1 synthetic. Isn't the point of it to change your oil less. Unless your car is burning oil like crazy otherwise its pointless. I seen mobil 1 synthetic oil still great after 10k miles.

What is your logic behind thinking Amsoil is better than Mobile 1? It only pays for itself every two oil changes because of your false impression of Amsoil superiority leading to your longer change intervals. Notice how every 'Amsoil is better than Mobile 1' study is hosted on an Amsoil owned site and performed by an Amsoil funded lab?

Anyway, Walmart's Trutech full synthetic FTW. $10 per 5 quarts and you can change your oil and filter twice as often (getting rid of all contaminants) for 1/2 the price of the most popular oil brands...
Amsoil fanatics have no logic. They are working under the false assumption that they have the "end all, be all" of oils. (Similarly, the same goes for Royal Purple fanatics and Motul fanatics.) It has been well documented on this forum with posted oil analysis that ordinary, garden variety, "dino" oil still has ample service life left after 7500 miles in an S2000. Why would a good synthetic like Mobil 1 need to be changed at 5000 miles? And why would anyone think that you need Amsoil just to be able to go 7500 miles? So many gullible and impressionable car owners.
Please note that I have nothing against Amsoil. It's a very good oil. It's the Amsoil fanatics I don't take seriously. If they like to overpay for overkill, that's their choice. I take exception when they make it sound like other oils are inadequate.

You actually sent your oil out for testing? If so, please post what your findings were after 10k miles. I am legitimately curious.

Blackstone Laboratories will test your oil for a reasonable fee ($22.50)

[QUOTE]STANDARD ANALYSIS

Blackstone's standard analysis will tell you what you need to know about the condition of your engine and how it's wearing. The standard analysis costs $22.50 and includes the following:

No, no! That's what makeas this site so fun to come to. Lots of repeat questions being asked over and over and over and over and over again. Then lots and lots of oil fanatics posting up their expert personal preferences about how much better one magic brand is over another. Makes for such great amusement.
