What are the advantages and disadvantages of a FINAL GEAR?

The mechanical advantage of the gear reduction will make it "easier to launch". I have the 4.77s and they are great, the only disadvantage is that you are forced to shift through the gears quicker. Most of us don't use the top end speed above 130 anyway. At 80MPH I am @ 5200 RPM. The 0-60 time is definitely reduced which is what I wanted. If stock is at 5.2 , I am at 5.0.
