Whacked the MAP sensor...
Yesterday, my car was bogging and stalling. I've read that this is a relatively common problem and one way to remedy is to whack the MAP sensor. When I got home, I banged it 5-6 times with the back of a screwdriver.
Today, when I started the car, the Check Engine light went on. The car started to bog and stall initially and then I went to get gas at a station. When I restarted the car, it seems to run and idle fine but the light is still on. Do you think I damaged the MAP sensor? Any insights or experiences? Should I reset the ECU to see if the light goes back on?
TIA

You must read the code to really know what is going on.
It turns out the sucess of MAP whack is just to break any resistance built up on the connector and it is more effective to just disconnect and clean the plug. In any case it is never appropriate to hit componants with much force.
Don't reset anything... get the code read.

Likewise, clean off the connector, plug it back in well. Go to autozone and borrow a scanner. Write down the code and reset light. If the light comes back on you will need to look deeper. If not, you maybe golden.
Next time don't whack it soo hard! haha
