Yep,UK spec alignment, good wet weather tires U can run a 255/40 rear for some more traction.I have driven and own both ap1&2.The ap1 IS tail happy.Flame if u like but that has been my experience with the car.I don't have any problem catching the tail out but there has been times under the right conditions where there was lil or not time to react other than counter steer and still spun 110 degrees when pushed.Or even just taking off in a straight line in the wet and the tires would spin with lil effort/normal take off speed. Not bashing the ap1 but it does have lower limits in stock form than the ap2.With more rubber the story changes and it is a potent weapon and possibly better.

Did some research into tyres on tirerack. The RE-11 seems like a good tyre (but can I combine it with the OE RE050 at the front??).
Is going for 255's really the way to go?? (like has been done on the S2K CR??)

But how 'bout all-seasons like RE960's, would these improve the wet capabilities of the car??

Jimbo good advice about the suspension/tyres! Will consider that!

Thanks for all your advices and answers!!!

Standard factory alignment.
This doesn't really mean anything - no offence.
What are the actual numbers?
Did you get a print the last time it was checked?

Mixing tire types is not a good idea IMO.
It's expensive, I know, but get 4 of the same type for best results.

After 5 years of owning an AP1 and 4 of them on 16" S-02's I can say its possible to drive through wet summers without problems.
Adapt to the circumstances
The Continentals performed very well during winter.

To solve your issues I say: "Start with an (uk-spec) alignment."
AP1's are tail happy but a good alignment makes a huge difference.

I have a UK alignment and with stock replacement tires (205/225 Bridgestone RE01Rs) I never had a problem in the winter driving. Granted I didn't drive in the snow, but as many know, Washington state is notorious for having wet weather. I believe it comes down to avoiding high speeds (not taking the interstate) when it is raining very hard and being very cautious with all of your inputs (braking, steering, and throttle). The only time I had trouble driving in the rain was with 8 year old S02s that came on my car when I bought it.

I don't have the actual numbers from the last alignment, but I asked the shop to note the current settings before setting up the UK spec.

The RE-11's aren't available in Europe/The Netherlands. So I chose for Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's aft. The shop has another S2000 with currently S-02's in front and these tires aft with no comments about handling. Also the Goodyears were

You shouldn't need traction control. Your right foot should suffice...

The RE-11's aren't available in Europe/The Netherlands.
Not even via TireRack?
Did you ask them for a quote inc. shipping?
They shipped my A048's to the Netherlands without a problem (4-6 days)
