That's right Jeff. They tell you to go clockwise 1-3-4-2 so you get the proper roation in the firing order. If you know to look for the cam lobes in the proper position you can do it in any order you want. I still prefer to do it clockwise to keep it simple, and I use the various timing marks on the cam gears .

Turning the motor counter-clockwise on a chain driven F motor doesn't affect anything. On a b-series engine with rubber timing belts the timing belt tensioners don't really like to go counter-clockwise, but on our motors it doesn't matter.
