Default Well, it crapped out on me.

Last friday I took the S out for a ride. Hadn't driven it for 2 weeks and decided to drive her since we've actually had decent weather in NYC.

I was in 3rd gear and was accelerating up to 7k when I let off the gas hard. Thought i saw a cop. Anyway, my car dies like it stalled. All the lights came on in the dash, oil, CEL, etc. Pulled it over, waited a few seconds and started it and drove home. On the way home though, the oil light starts to fade in and out. At a stop light it'll stay lit but when driving it goes away and VTEC didn't engage. Parked it and went to bed.

The next morning, I checked the oil. I had enough in there because 3 weeks ago I was at Billman's and all the fluids in the car were changed. Oil level was good and it looked pretty fresh since I haven't been driving it at all.

Well yesterday I took it out again. Same issue with the fading oil light, the car would die if the revs dropped abruptly and a knocking noise started to come from the engine. Starts at about 3k and gets louder at 5k. Didn't take it past 5k because i didn't want to hear BOOM.

Anyway, the symptoms are telling me it's a spun bearing. Checked the oil again and found metal on the dipstick. Oh and here's a vid of it starting up. Have the sound on.

Never was a fan of knock, knock jokes.

Car has 96K on the clock. Was purchased brand new with 7 miles on it. It's an early 02 bought in Nov of 2001 and it doesn't have newer oil jet bolts. It's the first major issue with the car that I've experienced. Kinda jinxed it the other day because I was talking to my buddy about how reliable honda's are. Oh well.

You say it does NOT have the newer oil jet bolts? I thought the only ones that had the 2 holed ones were 2000 and halfway thru 2001.

??

No it doesn't. It's a very early 02. It doesn't even have the updated wheels which were supposed to come on the 2002s. The ones with the clear coat.

Banjo bolts are not the problem here. If it was a scuffed bore, then maybe.
