Pete: There has been at least one UK S2000 that's broken the diff in the same way, though they're not on the board. I think it was repaired under warranty.

That is awesome that they covered it under warranty. Sorry 'bout the punishment. What's the redline on that thing? 9000? Didn't think so.

I still don't get how a car with 153lbs of torque can break anything, especially with all the Mustangs running 2 times the torque and not breaking stuff.

Just pi$$es me off is all, but it's all the more reason that I get a new one to flog every 3 years, as a car ages these things will start to appear more frequently...it's just a matter of time. I'll have my new one in about a year so I'm not too worried about it.

Glad to hear everything worked out fine. All these stories of mechanical failure is giving me the chills about long term ownership of this great machine. I have nothing but great things to say about Honda and my S2000. I hope this continues.

at least you didn't have to drive a Chevy Metro with no power steering... I just returned that POS today... whew, it was dangerous, not even fun flinging it around...

Of course doing High RPM clutch dumps will hurt things. Anyone who watches racing has seen INDY Cars and even NASCAR cars break half shafts and ring and pinions and axles when they drop the clutch exiting the pits. You are putting a big strain on the drivetrain and unless you get wheespin (or burn the clutch) everytime the rear end and transmission are going to suffer.

BTW you have to remember the transmission multiplies the torque going to the rear end so the engine torque numbers are a moot point.

The car will last a lot longer if you treat it as a sports car and not a drag car.
