Why does your ecu engage at 6100...? Factory vtec engagment is 5800?

Altitude can change the VTEC engagement point on the OEM ECU. I've read reports of people in the Colorado mountains getting VTEC at 7000. Here in TX my VTEC engages at 5900.

Wow I guess I just thought that VTEC was engaged based on numeric rpm values not something pressure specific that could be dictated by altitude.

There are several factors that the ECU looks at to determine VTEC engagement. If you are at light throttle, it will wait longer too. That's one thing that I didn't like about the V-AFC since it will engage VTEC no matter what, so if the ECU alters its fuel delivery based on a later VTEC engagement (high altitude, partial throttle, low coolant temp, etc.), then your AFRs will be way off.

If it wasn't on 4 cylinder I would have more problems than this minor throttle thing.

Gernby: sorry to confuse you on that last post. I think your onto it with the open and closed ecu stuff. I gotta reset all my radio stations now though after I reset my ecu...
