Hey guys- I have a recently purchased 01 with 44k on it- aside from a small lifter rattel (which i heard is normal) mostly everything is good. heres my problem- i have a weird almost exhaust pinging whiile the car is running and then it pings 1 every 7-10 seconds for the first 20 minutes the car is off to. this is about the same frequency it pings while the car is running to. is this normal? I would think something bad about the motor but it comes from the middle of the car- and like I said it also does it after the car has been shut off to. Thanks for your help...

p.s.- a very quite lifter tap is normal around 45k isnt it?

I'm going to guess that it's the normal and typical expansion and contraction of your exhaust system as it's running and cooling when it's turned off. Relax.
