Weird noise when I go over speed bumps?
Hey guys,
Just purchased on 05 Silverston last week with 9K and I noticed that every now and then when I go over speed bumps, I hear a loud clunking sound like something isn't bolted down. Sort of sounds like a loud clicking noise too. I have taken the car back to the dealership and have repeated the sound to the technician upon a test drive. They got the car on the lift and retightened every bolt and checked the ball joints, springs, shocks, etc. A day later I heard the same exact noise and will be taking it back down to the dealership. Anyone think they know what the problem might be?
Thanks, Josh

could be your spare tools bouncing around. check and see if the spare tools are in the foam thing or if the previous owner removed them and laid them in the bottom or in by the spare tire.

Thanks for the info so far guys, yeah the noise comes from the front passenger side so I'm not sure what to think? The noise definately bothers me because it is so loud. Do you guys think there is something wrong? The dealership has inspected it and retightened all the bolts and have checked the cv joints and ball bearings, but cant find anything obvious?

I had this same noise after getting springs put in. Same side, same symptoms. Mine turned out to be the strut bolt (I hope that is the name cause I don't know squat about cars). It was stripped so it wouldn't tighten down completely. So when I hit a speed bump at anything faster than a roll, the strut would move down a little and bang! when it came back up. Have them check it - mine looked tightened down, but it would just spin (not easily mind you) when I tried to tighten it up. The bolt was replaced, tightened properly and no more sound.
