OK How 'bout those of us who don't do high RPM launches and never plan to; yes you can call me a wimp but I want my S2K to last until the cows come home.
Can I expect a diff. failure even if I baby my baby? Ok ok so once in a while if I'm on grass or loose gravel I will be a little generous with the throttle and have fun with the rear end sliding around, but otherwise I'm pretty good.
Was it a wise idea for me to get that extended warranty?

I had the stock diffy start to go south around 12K miles. I finally got it replaced under warranty at 31 K. Only the bearings were showing any signs of wear although they never completely failed. Nothing catastrophic going on but the ring and pinion gears were making plenty of noise. The car was never launched hard but twisty roads were apparently enough. Some of the stock differentials are indeed weak or poorly manufactured.

There's a company in Australia that has a conversion kit to put a heavy duty Nissan Diff into the S2K(R200A). They claim it's good for 1000 hp. It replaces the driveshaft, axles hubs and the diff. Turnkey's about 3K US but, if you can find the diff yourself. You can get away cheaper.
